Biketas 2013: Skyline-Mintal-Mulig + Panabo Ride

Travel Period: February 09 - 10, 2013
Destination: Davao City and Panabo City

Downtown To Mintal Via Skyline
February 09, Saturday. We haven't done any bike ride before on this Skyline-Mintal-Mulig route, so I suggested it to the group. As usual, we had our early breakfast at fast food chain and ride out by 6:30am. We traversed Torres St. then to San Rafael Village to reach Maa and finally Diversion Road. A slow ascent on this part up to Las Terrazas, followed with a long descent down to Skyline intersection. We turn right at the junction and traversed Catalunan Grande road up to Skyline proper. Since it's our first time with the trail, we missed to take the shortcut road to Mintal proper instead we traversed a longer loop, it was blessing in disguise because we passed by at DECA Wakeboard park and had our photo ops.

Mintal To Libby Via Mulig
After we had our photo ops at the wakeboard park, we proceeded to Mintal proper and to UP Mintal campus. We had a hard time finding the location of the campus since it was almost a decade since we visited the campus during PSITS time. Luckily, after some navigation and help of the locals, we finally arrived at the campus, of course, photo ops at the statue. Minutes after, we proceeded to Mulig road until we reached an intersection, southbound for Toril, northbound for Calinan and westbound for Pangitaon. We took a break and by 10am decided to proceed with the route bound to Virlyn's place for the Biketas bike workshop.

Biketas Workshop
Thanks to our food sponsor Jason for the advance birthday celebration. Back to the workshop, we're assigned to designated topics to discussed. Raksil lead the presentation while Koko as our expert gues, gave tips and tricks about biking. We had our great lunch, snack and even early dinner. Late afternoon when it was started to rain, it was pouring heavy rains that we decided to stay for awhile. By evening, we decided to went back home even it was raining.

Panabo Ride
February 10, Sunday. During the bike workshop, we decided to have a long ride to practice and increase our pacing. Past 6am when Jason texted us, riding out from downtown bound to north. Raksil waited at Dona Pilar crossing while I waited at Ilang crossing. When we group, we decided to maintain a 25kph pacing with circular pacing technique as alternate wind breaker. By 8:26am, we already arrived at Panabo City, had our breakfast and then proceed to the pier and mangrove along the shore. We tour around the city and by 10am we went back home.

Summary
Skyline-Mintal-Mulig ride covers 89kms while the Panabo ride covers a total of 48kms. "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thank you and God bless us all!
